About Tim

Tim Tendick is an unrepentant traveler, whose predilection for wandering led him to live five years entirely on the road, before he reached a happy balance of roughly half the year abroad and half in Oakland, California. But if hitch-hiking planes ever becomes a thing, he might be late for dinner.

He has a degree in Language Studies from UC Santa Cruz, with a specialization in Latin American Politics and History, but sees his best education as coming from travel, where lessons are unexpected, constant, and vast. Having taught English in half a dozen countries over four continents, his love for the sharing of knowledge synthesizes with his love of travel when he guides, which he has been doing professionally for Rick Steves’ Europe since 2015.

In his California time he enjoys cycling, rock climbing, photography, reading epic fantasy and indulgent thrillers, crocheting massive blankets, knitting hats that no one wears, and playing with a dog named Bilbo. You can read more about his travels via his blog vagabondurges.com, and sign up for his mailing list above.
