Itinerary
Tharros
The tour starts in Cagliari, Italy and ends in Olbia, Italy.
Day 1. Welcome celebration near the Cagliari hotel, orientation walk, group dinner. (Sleep in Cagliari 2 nights)
Day 2. Local guided tour of wonderful Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia. Free afternoon and evening. Lunch and dinner on our own.
Day 3. Morning visit to UNESCO World Heritage nuragic site of Barumini. Arrive in Oristano for an orientation walk and group dinner. (Sleep in Oristano 2 nights)
Day 4. Tour of the Punic-Roman archaeological site of Tharros (possible beach time weather permitting). Dinner on your own in Oristano.
Day 5. Visit to the colorful hill town of Bosa. Arrive in the sea town of Alghero for hotel check in followed by group dinner. (Sleep in Alghero 3 nights)
Day 6. Walking tour of "Catalan-Sardinian" Alghero. Free afternoon, lunch and dinner on our own.
Day 7. Day trip to the hill town of Castelsardo, once a Genuese outpost in Sardinia, with lunch on our own. Return to Alghero for some free time, followed by a group dinner.
Day 8. Depart to the archaeological site of Sant'Antine, followed by a local group aperitivo-lunch. Arrive at our Oliena country hotel, check in. Afternoon cooking class, followed by group dinner at the hotel. (Sleep in Oliena 3 nights)
Day 9. Visit to the Mask Museum of Mamoiada and the mural-painted town of Orgosolo. Lunch on our own in Orgosolo. Return to Oliena for some down time, before our wine experience and group dinner.
Day 10. We will enjoy a day in the country in the wild Barbagia area of the Lanaitto Valley with a few local experiences. Group lunch in the countryside. Dinner on our own at our hotel.
Day 11. Depart to Cala Gonone for a boat tour (weather permitting, plan B available) of the dramatic coastline and sea caves. Late afternoon arrival in Olbia (capital of the Costa Smeralda), hotel check in, orientation walk and group dinner. (Sleep in Olbia 2 nights)
Day 12. Morning archaeological excursion to the Tomb of the Giants near Arzachena, followed by a self-exploration of classy Porto Cervo. Lunch on our own. Return to Olbia for some free time, followed by our farewell dinner together.
Day 13. Tour is over after breakfast. We will help arrange transportation to Olbia or Cagliari Airport as needed. Arrivederci!
